SKANAIR® WORKSTATION

SAFETY FUME CUPBOARD

The small exhaust air volume and the integrated filter system enables to run more fume cupboards with the same amount of air volume, thus providing more safe workplaces.

  • collects hazardous substances at source
  • protects therefore personnel, laboratory and exhaust air channels

ECONOMICAL

  • 60% lower intake and exhaust air volume compared to conventional fume cupboards,
  • resulting into reduction in the energy costs for air treatment.
  • significant cost savings on building infrastructure
  • More fume cupboards at the same exhaust air volume in cases of limited ventilation capacity.

ERGONOMISICH

  • elimination of wind chill factor due to lower intake air volume
  • allows seated work due to increased legroom
  • bright and transparent workplace due to side windows made of safety glass

SAFE

  • certified person protection according to EN 14175
  • removes dust, aerosols and containments from the exhaust air and prevents hazardous residuals from occurring in the building exhaust air system
  • good protection in the event of fire ( self-extinguishing ) and spill out ( collecting basin )

ECOLOGICAL

  • collects contaminats at the source and prevents their uncontrolled distribution
  • reduces environmental pollution via the smaller output of contaminants and regenerative filters
  • saves energy thanks to lower air consumption

The workstation is a safety fume cupboard with integrated aeration. The intake air from the surrounding area, i.e. the laboratory, enters via the front opening (green arrows).

This fresh air is blended with the contaminated air from the working area, and is exhausted in front of and behind the work surface directly to the filters (orange arrows).

All the exhaust air is thus forwarded to internal ventilation via filters, which are placed directly below the work surface. During normal operation as well as in reduced mode, the exhaust air volume is continuously filtrated, thus ensuring that contaminats are removed at their source. Air that has been purified in this way is guided to the top of the Workstation (blue arrows).

At the top of the Workstation the volume flow is divided: half of the filtered air is extracted via the building exhaust air system, while the other half is guided to the front of the working area and forms an additional protective curtain (front air curtain) (blue arrows).

The partly circulating air enables the reduction of intake and exhaust air volume and thus saves energy costs.

The integrated extraction and filter technology of the workstation has a broad area of application, and considerably increases your safety while handling active and unknown substances.

Practical experience has revealed three typical situations for the use of the workstation:

  • General chemical / synthetic and analytical work

Use of the Standard Filter with regenerative active carbon

  • Work mainly with powdered active substances

Use of the AS kit with HEPA H14 Filter and Active Carbon

  • Work mainly with specific / reactive reagents (e.g. formaldehyde)

Use of Specific Filters

The integrated extraction and filtertechnology of the workstation has a broad area of application, and considerably increases your safety while handling active and unknown substances.

AIR FLOW

The Workstation is featured with a table suction. Most of the solvent vapours and particles are heavier than air and are guided together with the exhaust air flow below the table to the filters.

EXHAUST AIR VOLUME

Compared to conventional fume cupboards the workstation requires only 1/3 of the exhaust air volume. The exhaust air volume is constant and independent of the position of the front panel, with the result that the air balance within the compartment is not affected. Work can be carried out simultaneously on all cupboards.

NIGHT MODE

The internal ventilation ensures that the efficiency of the filter retention is maintained. Even if the exhaust air flow of the compartment is reduced during the night, the concentration of contaminants in the working area remains low.

Three workstations can be operated using the same amount of air required for one conventional fume cupboard!
